Didn't know where to post this, but it looks like my mountain bike photography days are over.

I've been struggling with some pain in my left adductor muscle for at least two years, but it has finally got the better of me. Had some professional advice, and the pain in the leg (and my back) is due to play in the left side of my hip.

Mountain biking doesn't really help the cause.....and as such I'm selling up my kit. Sold the bike, have a few things left like forks and shocks, but they are disappearing on STW.

My opportunities for taking mtb photography will be a little hampered now, as I used to take the dSLR with me on my rides etc.

I still might post the odd image when walking around Afan or Cwmcarn - just didn't want people to think that I'd disappeared off the scene without an explanation.

I'm disappointed, but looking on the bright side I've ridden some fantastic routes and had a whole lot of fun, shame it has to end - but I have enjoyed it while it lasted.

Aw that's really gutting. I reckon you might be able to ride again in the future - it'll only be a certain amount of time before you realise that you can't possibly stop riding permanently!!

Anyway, do post the shots that you do get, and do still post non mtb shots in the non mtb photography corner if you wish. Also feel free to still comment on other peoples' shots too!

Thanks for letting us know anyway, and I wish you a very speedy recovery!

That's really bad news that am real sorry to hear it!

Do make sure you pop on the comment on other pics etc. So many people just seem to vanish into thin air as you say!!!

My heart goes out to you mate- i've been sat around myself alot lately due to illness and have missed alot of riding. It's kept me going in the knowledge that i can ride again soon, dont think i could cope with not riding ever again! Saying that, i'd soon find something else.
I took up fishing believe it or not and it's great!
And i'd still have my motorcycle to ride....(you dont need good health for that!)

Sorry to hear that. Could physio not help the hip? If the NHS were being a bit crap then did you try private?

But please keep taking the odd photo. And never rule out a return to biking.

Yeah that sounds thoroughly unpleasant, but there are pleanty of other things to do. So long as you've had some good times that's cool, I once thought I wouldn't be able to survive without bikes but I feel like I've had a lifetime of experiences on them so I do other stuff a bit more now, kayaking, climbing etc..
