How do remotes for flashes work? I want to get one for next summer for my flash. My camera/flash is pretty old though. I have a Konica, but I don't the know model name.
Are there any recomendations for these? I have everything else that I need.

| Don't buy the cheap wireless kits off eBay, they tend to be very unreliable. Your best bet for the cheap end of the scale is to just use long sync lead cables as it's far more reliable. If you do want a remote flash setup that works then you're looking at spending hundreds... |

Alright, thanks a bunch.
Will any brand work, or will I need a specific type?
Anything you recommend? |

| Any brand of cable will work, just make sure it has a standard female+male PC sync socket and that your camera and flash have a PC sync socket. If not theres a couple of adapters you will need. |

about:
£10 for a 5m cable
£8 for a camera hotshoe - pc sync adapter
£8 for a flash hotshoe - pc sync adapter
You may just need the cable, you may also need one or both of the adapters. |

I thought pocket wizards were around £100 per piece?
That'd still work out at £200 for a transmitter and receiver setup though... |

| i think there is nothing wrong with the cheap ebay wireless set-up i run them my self with 4 flashes and works perfect. just remember for a world cup or something big the wireless kit is ultra cheap so lots of people have them and there are only 4 chanels odds are some 1 is going to have the same chanel as you so you. |

Ive also got the Ebay Triggers, There pretty good when shooting alone.
There terrible as soon as it gets cold, My camera itsself isnt too great with the cold, but these are even worse!
I Once shot at Wisley Jam with about 10 other photographers with similar kit. All of the Ebay triggers couldent deal with it so everyone was setting of everyone else's flash, it ended up with some guy getting pretty angry at me and i was apparently changeing channels to steal his flash..
If you want to get something bettween Ebay triggers and Pocket wizards, have a look at these..

I havnt heard much about them though _________________ www.TOMGRUNDY.BLOGSPOT.COM |
