I've not gone abroad for years and years, suddenly I'm off to the Mediterranean twice in a month Shocked

You might think it's quite nice, but it's mega hectic at the moment. Since Yesterday I've had to shoot over 80 bottles of wine and hand over the shots, I've done nearly a day of shooting bikes and the shots are being sent this minute. I've gone through and sent off a batch of shots from something older, and I'm in the middle of packing for nearly a week away leaving in the early hours tomorrow. It does however mean for the first time money earnt through photo's this month is about the same as working a month full time at halfords. I need the work though, my latest lens cost me over £1k!

On the downside, I've not ridden that much, last month I hit over 600 miles, I'll be lucky to hit 300 this month.
The most annoying thing is I will probably earn very little over the next few months Crying or Very sad Come April and no doubt mr. taxman will take away a nice chunk Evil or Very Mad

Did you have to 'test' them all afterwards??  Laughing

Is it usually a quiet time of year or is that just a prediction?

Yep, 14-24.

It's not that it's a quiet time of the year, it's just that if you have a busy period then no doubt a quiet period will follow.

Anyway, it's 21 degrees outside, the sun is shining and there is a carbon fibre road bike waiting to be ridden through mountains, so I'm off Cool  Cool

I was working, but there is time to relax too  Very Happy .

The people I was shooting went off this morning, our flight was this evening. We decided to go out for a bit of a ride; after an hour or so we were a bit tight for time, so our group of 6 split up, two took a shortcut back and four of us continued and it turned into a bit of an epic ride. The guy who was leading us had just spent 3 days at a training camp with the uk's best road racing team and it was only my 3rd ride on a road bike therefore I underestimated his definition of a ride, however after 8 miles of solid uphill, I had a better understanding!!! We rode up into cloud on this mountain and at the top of the pass our team of 4 split up again, two didn't need to get back in a hurry but myself and the other did, we were really running late. the next 5-10 minutes were pretty incredible, we didn't pass a car as we had high speed descending with tons of corners on smooth tarmac roads, running out of gears on the straights happened a few times, and this was with a 50t front ring...

Anyway, we soon realised we were running a bit low on water, we found the last village on the map we were going to pass until we got back and thankfully discovered a tap, so a quick fill up and sharing out our only energy bar and straight into two more loonnggg climbs, by this time I was knocking on the wall and so where possible just got a tow from the other rider (slipstream, not physically....) the last descent was again an amazing experience although a bit of a near miss with a car! finally we made it back to our hotel in Carcassonne where we had a fast shower and off to the airport. Of course, the flight was delayed so we were waiting around for ages!!

The ride turned out to be over 50 miles and including over 3000ft of climbing!

My bike for the days there:
