Well done to rider for getting the win. It was a tough battle but the shot deserves it.

Runner up goes to George, who submitted another stonking shot:

Critique the winner! Should he have won?? Discuss!

I voted for numero 6, the BMX one as personally I think rider's shot is too saturated and busy.

Of course, I think I should've won but was picked at the post! Smile

I didn't vote for either of them. I voted for max's even though it looked a wee bit underexposed.

The first one is a bit cluttered and there's nothing of interest for me. The scene isn't enough on it's own - there's no feeling of motion or drama and there's nothing to guide the eye. But congrats anyway to rider.

I think George's is better but I hate the overdone flash look in general, and that's a pretty extreme example. It's also a shame that the flash is so harsh and so much of the rider is still obscured by shadows, especially with all the diffuse lighting in the background.

Flash wouldn't have done much, it was really bright. An off camera flash to the right, pointed upwards, could have lightened the shadows a bit, but probably would have done little else, even on full power. When it]'s that bright the sun will always dominate as it's got the heck of a lot more power than a flahshgun.
