How about this for a different POTM - someone posts a photo (a link to a RAW file and/or unsharpened JPEG with not much saturation/contrast would be ideal) then everybody has to enter their version of that photo? You could use whatever software & techniques you want.

thats pretty cool actually. could make it work. How about a theme along the lines of "expressions" - capturing the bloody best in rider faces, my personal is the tongue in bottom gum look. haha
Or one idea i think would be cool wold be "unexpected" - riding in places out of the ordinary. hehe.

Yeah...
But in the old days you would choose your film (and filters) depending on the effect, saturation and contrast. You could also spend hours in the darkroom to get the precise effect you wanted. You can change the film, so as to speak, with the in camera settings and then do the darkroom work on you PC. Nowt wrong with that.
On the other hand, leaving everything on auto and not considering any further processing is like purely handing you camera into Boots with whatever they gave you when you asked for "film, please" and going with what the photolab monkeys give you.
BTW - I don't secretly like lycra. I think that lycra should be banned*

I agree with jedi, though i sometimes tweak the brightness/contrast. I think it would be a cool idea for a PotM though. Right i gotta start making a tab of all these suggestions... _________________ Click on my sig...
Brightness and contrast are evil controls that should never be used. You won't go wrong reading up on who to use curves and/or levels adjustments. Gives a much nicer and more controllable effect.
Fair enough trying to get stuff right in camera, but you'll be hard pushed to find many good pros that don't of some form of post processing. Each to their own I guess. _________________ Hamish
