Okay. My first thoughts are why did you use f8 1/100 at night? You could have dropped the shutter speed to 1/30 or 1/15 and you'd still have been frozen by the flash burst, but you'd have had more ambient light in the background. Unless you didn't want to do that.
#1 - It's well timed but it's a shame that the flash is low and we can't see your face due to the shadow from your arm. That spoils it for me.
#2 - That's scaring me. Please don't post anything like that again. Maybe the flash being low in the first pic wasn't a bad thing after all
#3 - It's a shame that there's a lot of flash lighting up the left side of the frame, whereas it's absent from the right side. As a result it draws the attention to the tap & window instead of to yourself. Nice wallride BTW. If you'd had the foresight to manually override the flash zoom to, say 50mm then you could have narrowed the flash to create a nice vignetting effect with yourself in the spotlight (of course easily done in CS2).
Not bad for self portraits though. _________________ Hamish |

It's the width of coverage that it changes rather than the length. Just the same as if you take a photo at 18mm with the SB-600 on the camera and you don't use the 14mm wide panel setting. With that you'll get vignetting at the edges but it's fine with the correct width setting. BTW remember and take the wide panel off as well if you're intentionally narowing the flash.
Fair enough. I'm not surprised it was dark at f8 1/30 and ISO 200 at night. I was just pointing out that you don't need a fast shutter speed to freeze things, in case you decide to try it out again at sunset/dusk. _________________ Hamish |
