yeah i use a remote flash so you can put it wherever you want on different angles so it adds a cool affect and u can see the shadow most of the time. pretty expensive though
hope that helps _________________

Here's a different type of creative composition - showing where the rider has come from.
It's basically a case of trying to use the lines and depth of the terrain in the background to show the rider has 'arrived' in the foreground with a story behind them.
Okay, that's quite a pretentious description but hopefully you'll see what I'm on about:

ooo v. nice
orignal idea too, something i havnt really seen before. congrats.
only slight annoyence with that pic is the other riders behind him kinda spoil it a tad but it doesnt really matter, cause its still a cool shot. _________________ Ride like you have insurance.

Ok hope this doesn't go down wrong..
i really like the location, angle and timing of peanuts shot but the flash effect looks like it has over emphasised the riders face and wheels. Maybe a hood or filter / reflector would have helped.. please do not be insulted.. overall it's a great photo (may fav kind of MTB shot) even down to the dust trail whisps off the ledge. just that flash effect is a bit to much.. |

It's really off putting. Not just the rider & bike but also the adjacent trees are spoiled. A hood wouldn't have done anything and a reflector isn't needed either. What would have helped was dialing in -0.7 or -1.0 flash exposure compensation.
That's part of the reason I seldom use flash. _________________ Hamish |
