X-700 D.O.A.The seller wasn't sure if it worked because the batteries were dead. I took a chance on the eBay auction for this Minolta X-700 with a lens. My gamble didn't work out as planned. I'll have to send it off for repair when I have some more funds in the war chest. It seems this X-700 suffered the same shutter failure that crippled my XG-1 in high school and the light seals are crumbling. It's a $50 repair at Garry's Camera in Niles, Illinois. It's a shame... Big bright viewfinder and a nice MD 50mm f/2 lens begging to be used.

Shame. Hope it doesn't cost you too much to get it working. I'm sometimes tempted to see if I can pick up an old Nikon, maybe a FM2... but digital is just so much more convenient.

I know what you mean. All of my paid work is digital for sure. Anything I shoot on film is for me. Over the last five years, digital has won me over for the convenience factor. I still like using my EOS bodies though.
I sent my EOS 5 off for repair last week and I should get it back before the end of next week. I've been looking forward to using it again for a long time. That repair is going to run me $65. This X-700 is more of a morbid curiosity than anything. An old friend brought her Minolta XG-M by last month and that's what got me looking at eBay. The X-700 repair will be quite some time away after paying for a replacement Pocket Wizard transmitter and getting my EOS 5 fixed. Hopefully not four years like my EOS 5 though.

Wahey, that's what i'm using to shoot film at the moment. I reckon it's a nice camera but i have limited - or no - experience on that field.
Let us know how you get on with it when it's repaired!
