Work photo galleryMy work are taking submissions for a staff photo gallery all around the building.
Each member of staff can submit three entries and if chosen they will be printed, framed and displayed. People will also be able to purchase prints at a discount for the company charity.
Here are my three (some on here will recognise one or two of these - or all three if you are Hamish)):
Kingston Bridge - taken on Nikon D40 with 18-70mm lens
Sunrise in Richmond Park - Nikon D40 with 18-70mm
Jump! - Nikon D300 with 70-200
I wanted 3 different types of shots (rather than just submitting 3 different landscapes for instance) and definitely think the walls need gracing with a mountain bike picture.

The 2nd is really nice sunrises are so much better than sunsets! I just think it could have done with a longer focal length as there is a lot of dead sky and grass (looks like there is a dust bunny in the sky too). I'm not so keen on the last, from a riders point of view, it's a small jump, with an awkward body and bike position but then again I only notice that becuase I've been a dirt jumper for years

Second is great, I've yet to take sunrise pictures, I'm too lazy to get up at that time!

Cheers. I'm kind of spoiled in that the only time I get to ride is first thing in the morning, which is a bit of a pain but does have its benefits.
Thanks for the comments Roo. I have to say that I kind of like the sky and grass leading up to the sun and trees.
You are spot on with the third (I'm also unhappy with the busy foliage behind the rider), but hey, its a gratuitous excuse to get a MTB photo up in work!

Well, i'm always a sucker for those night-city shots and i love the blue lighting. The sun rise is lovely and i'm sure will grab the attention of whoever judges it. I hope the biking shot gets printed - awkward or not awkward: anything to promote the sport!!

Exactly the same with me!!

Seen them all before... yawn...
I do love the second one.
And yes. Sunrises are better, but I'm generally too lazy to get up in time for them too. I'll make do with sunsets instead.

Got notification today that all 3 were picked!
One apparently may be getting a prime location as well.
I'm really pleased.

Just a little update on this. They finally got the pictures up on the walls yesterday. A mix up between the organiser and the printers meant that the pictures are much larger than originally intended (which suits me).
I'm well chuffed with my three, especially as the first sale was one of mine - someone walked into the framers and asked to buy the bridge photo while he was framing it. I've said that I will accept a charitable donation for it, and apparently they want it to give to a friend of theirs to hang in his restaurant by the river in Kingston (one of my favourite restaurants).
Some of the other photos submitted are pretty spectacular - I think that they will be displaying all the photos on a plasma screen in reception, so if anyone should be visiting Nikon at all - take a moment to watch the slideshow.

Well done mate! That's excellent stuff. So did all 3 get printed then?

Yeah, all three did. The bridge one is a huge landscape - the largest in the gallery (I think). The sunrise one actually looks less impressive than I thought it would, but still draws a lot of attention.
The mountain bike one really looks fantastic. I'd been regretting submitting it actually, and wishing the Quashqai event had happened earlier as I think I have much better shots in that. I'm actually really happy with the finished picture and most people seem to be very impressed.

Congratulations, Travis. I hope you at least get a free meal out of it.

Indeed. The thought has also crossed my mind (possibly one of the reasons I stipulated that my name must be displayed on it.
