What image editing software do you use?

So what image software is everyone using, and why.

I'm a relative newbie to photography (beginning to take it a little more seriously lately).

I've used Aperture up until recently (Mac user), but now have looked at Light Room and Photoshop CS3.

Still keep going back to Aperture, mainly because it's quite easy to use. Light Room is quite good, but not as easy to edit as Aperture.

What do you use, and why.

I use Photoshop CS2 simply because a friend gave it to me and I find it a great programme - there's still loads I don't understand about it though. I would like to get hold of CS4 as it's a great bit of kit, but don't have the monies.

I also use irfan view (it's a free download) as it's great for viewing shots full screen and quick resizing and edits for uploading your shots to the web.

These days I use Capture NX2 for most stuff and occasionally photoshop if I need to do something complex.

I prefer adobe systems so so much!
CS4 is the best.. although i dont have the money and i dont really want an illigal programme

So i use Gimp,
Its free to download, pretty similar to Photoshop, has similar basic tools..all you need really!
