I like it, it's your classic waterfall shot - i can see it hung up on a wall somewhere. Good use of slow shutter speed and I like the way it's framed by the overhanging trees etc, but perhaps it is too centrally (sp?) composed and too much of a cliche? It's great shot, but perhaps too 'normal'.
Mind you, i haven't a shot like that so i'm nobody to speak...

It's nice and atmospheric. Has nice feel although a little undercontasted (that may be this scren though..)
Come back there when its raining and the moss on those rocks will stand out even more

Nah. It is a bit flat - it's not just your monitor, Ben.
I agree - return when it's wet with a polariser and you'll have a nice shot. I think the cliched central composition does actually work okay, particularly due to the water swirling in the foreground.
Nice work Sam.

Cheers, I did notice it was quite flat, but chose to leave it like that rather than boost contrast in PP. Will reshoot when wet (maybe with an ND8).

I don't think a ND filter would improve it. You'd lose the lines in the water and it would just become a white mass with the lengthier shutter speed.

Och stuff it. I decided to chuck it into photoshop for 5 mins. A bit of saturation added with LAB curves, a bit more contrast with a curves layer and some PWL to lighten the leaves and darken the shadows a tiny bit. Makes quite a difference:
Hope you dont mind but let me know if you don't want it posted and I'll happily delete it.
BTW - If you decide to return then take a polarising filter. It'll get rid of the reflected light on the rocks/greenery and bring out some more of the natural colour.

Thanks, That does look quite a bit better- Need to brush up on my PP skils.

No worries. You still have to have a decent photo to get a good one out of PP.
If you want a proper description of what I did to get that end result then PM me. It's really quite simple when you get the hang of it. But it does take a wee bit of explaining.
