Tripod Advice?

Thinking of buying a tripod; but don't want to spend loads of cash.
Any thougths for the best buy (including) head for around 120GBP - something light-ish would be good.
Thanks

ball or 3way head, also, you care about how long the legs are? cause a long 2 section leg would be stabler but harder to transport, a 4 section would be less stable but better to carry. also, you need to ever get it down to the floor level? or not bothered about that?

soz bout all da questions, but it makes sense to suggest the optimum one for ya

I'd second what Adam says. Another couple of things to look at are the type of adjuster for the legs - either twisty thing or flip-locks. I personally much prefer flip-locks. Also, it's useful to get a hotshoe spirit level, if the tripod doesn't have one, as it's difficult to get tripods accurately level.

3 way. Would prefer if it was easier to transport, so flip locked 3 - 4 section I guess. Don't need to get it right down on the ground.
Thanks

both do me proud and i cant complain.

the 1st is a bit better, but slightly heavier.

the 2nd is great if you want to use it in a risky spot....
i mean it only cost £14 so who cares.... lol

Yeah flip locks are much more reliable, sometimes a tiny nudge can undo a twist lock leg, and it gets old fast. Crying or Very sad

But much love to Velbon anyway.

I'm currently without tripod legs, broke mine almost a year ago and still haven't replaced them... I have a Uni-Loc 25 Ball Head though, that is so precise it hurts! Really good.

I was looking to get a set of Velbon CF legs for cheap on Warehouse Express, but the one week I finally got some money the offer had closed... Damn. Looking at some of Manfrotto's offerings now instead.
