Good editing but both are a bit slow/ long.
For a trailer i reckon it needs to be short and sharp leaving loasds to the imagination so you want to buy it. This being the first example that comes to mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv3tRWo-v1s |

Yes that is a good trailer, though perhaps too short for my liking. i can see that the trailers are slightly lengthy though you have to give a feeling of a film in the trailer to give people an idea of what it's about. | ||||

NO! The purpose of the trailer is to get people to watch the film. Just think how many good trailers you've seen only to find that the actual film is rubbish. One classic that springs to mins is Hostel where it only showed a few tiny flashes which seemed disturbing and let you're imagination run riot. of course, when you actually watched it and discovered it was not at all scary/gory/disturbing. That Paris BMX one was similar as well, teasing the viewr by not showing much at all. I felt that I'd already seen most of your movie, rather than a few flashes of cool that would make me want to watch more. A little tighter editing would really help, particularly with some of the long run ins. |

Yer i'm with Hamish on this one. A trailer should be short and snappy. But i also think it should have quite alot of lifestyle type shots. Also shots showing the trails and scenery without people actually riding them in an attempt to make the reader think, 'woah people are going to ride that!' without actually showing them the riding.
Then just a few tightly edited riding clips. Also the moving camera shots need alot of work to get them real smooth, and the panning from a tree close up shots were a bit over done although some of them were nice. |

Which is kind of what we did... I agree with john and partly with Hamish, but i do still think that you have to give a feeling of a film in it's trailer.
Exactly; the trailers i posted give a feeling of the film whilst the actual film is better. |
