Start saving them coppers

For anyone who isn't aware of the news...

Canon & Nikon have each recently announced a couple of new cameras which sound stunning. The Nikon D300 sounds particularly good for the money and should be ideally suited for biking photos but we'll have to wait and see what the picture quality is like.

Sounds good! Thanks for keeping us informed Hamish.

It's what I've been waiting for, full frame sensor with a suitably wide/sharp lens to match.

14-24mm f/2.8... How crazy is that? Effectively wider than all the 10-20mm lenses we see at the moment, and it's faster. I was expecting the ol' 14mm f/2.8 to make a comeback but no, they've outdone themselves.

But yeah like you say, need to save the pennies.

I like my sigma 10-20 but the 14-24 2.8 is going to be seriously tempting, even for use on a DX sensor. If it's anything like as good as Nikon's other f2.8 zooms then it'll be a cracker (not to mention about £1K a pop).

I really don't want to be seduced into buying a new body when my d200 works okay, but the D300 is going to be mighy tempting if the AF is as good as everyone hopes and the High ISO performance is up to scratch. I can't justify the D3 unless I win the lottery. Then again I never buy tickets so that's quite unlikely.
