Sorry to bother you again......but anyone got any advice as to a camera bag? Should I get a small one that i can fit into a backpack or should i get a photography specific backpack (i know dakine do some tasty ones)? Anyone got any reccomendations that aren't too pricey?

I don't think there's much point.

You could get one. They have their uses. I have a big old Lowepro one which is great for carrying everything but I hardly ever use it.
It also depends what you're up to, but I prefer just to use a camelbak HAWG when riding, and a normal backpack when travelling. I'd rather not have a bag which screams out "expensive camera gear - please rob me".
I'm sure others on here may have different views though.

There was a looooong thread about backpacks on SDH and the general concensus was that the Dakine Mission Photo is by far the best (I've got one and its the best backpack I've ever owned, so versatile, sturdy and comfy, you can fit so much in it too. Well worth the 70 odd quid!).
I used to have a Crumpler Pretty Boy but it just didn't cut the mustard...

I used to jut carry my camera and lenses around in a normal backpack, but then had to have 3 lenses repaired due to rattling around in a bag with my other stuff.
I now use a Crumpler Pretty Boy which does cut the mustard (for me anyway).

Cheers for the info guys.

This is exactly the reason i'm asking - i'm going to be riding the DH courses in the alps soon potentially with my DSLR and a 70-300 (maybe) and don't want them getting broke.

Ah, for riding, I'm with Hamish - Camelbak Hawg. I've stacked it quite badly and the gear is so well packed in one of those there is no damage at all.
Sorry, I was talking about just carrying around on foot in the other post.

Went for this bag in the end:

It turned up today so i haven't had a chance to use it yet but from looking at it it seems pretty good having specific camera compartments + space for normal stuff + the chest and waist straps to make sure it doesn't fall off whilst riding. It also came with a free monopod worth £30! Whoop!
(I still don't fully understand monopod's...)
