slow shutter speed

I LOVE hutter speed shots with a strangely gay passion. So here re some of my favourite shot. i was thinking of doing a slow shutter speed shot of someone biking with a light on their bike, would look wicked.
I i ever do that i will post it up.

this first one is my A* art work exam

Love the first - very creative. Great shot.

Not so keen on the others. The blown out screen on the second is a big spoiler. Third is a wee bit blown/overexposed too. Then again fireworks can be a right pain. I've found that the least bright fireworks tend to come out nicest and the bright ones tend to blow too easily. What sort of settings did you use for the fireworks?

to be honest i dont remember but thanks for the comments. I know doing slow shutter speeds cant always works but when it does it is awesome.

The flickr page should have details to the EXIF. Some sites embed it in the photo but flickr doesn't.

Anyway... f16 ISO 100 and 2-3secs usually works well for fireworks:

Oh... and another hint for night time long exposures - take off any unnecessary filters or you can get artefacts from flare and the like - I think that's going on a wee bit in the fourth one you posted.

As for dealing with bright adverts - well some of the timing is down to a bit of luck if they're very long exposures. It's more predictable when you keep it down to only a few seconds but you do get less impressive traffic trails:

is it just my exif reader or do none of these photos read.

I tired it with jacobs to see if it was auto or manual focus. and stuff
and now the fireworks shot dosent work!

Nope. Flickr strips the EXIF. If you try it with the ones I posted then you should see the EXIF sitting there smiling at you. If you don't then it is obviously your EXIF reader! Wink

Nice shots Simpson, there is something rather cool about long exposures. I like the colours and the way the trees are lit up in the fireworks shot, but i have to agree with Hamish about the picaddilly circus (sp?) shot. Could have been great but the blown out boards kinda spoil it. Good stuff though, keep em coming!

Oh, and nice fireworks shot Hamish - looks quite elegant!

Here's a long exposure i got recently - it really was a random moment of inspiration:
