shooting in public

hey

i was just wondering if getting ya camrea and tripod out in public while doing night photography or shooitng street is ever an issue? have any of you ever had hassle from chavs? or people claiming its illegal to photograph in public? in just curiosu thats all, cause i dun wanna get my lovely new cam nicked or anything

nah i set up at a funfair on the busyest night of the week to take photos.

i few drunks asked what it was and i just sed its my dog , you wana stroke and they all sed no and left Very Happy nah if it means a good shot go for it

I wouldn't worry about chavs wanting to nick your D70s. They'll surely all be after the D80 instead Wink

Taking photos in a public space is perfectly legal, even if you are taking photos of private property... As long as you're standing in a public space then you're not breaking the law.

As for photos of people, if it's mass crowds then it is still nice and legal. If the photo's main subject is an identifiable member of the public then you do need permission from them before you take the photo thanks to the Voyuerism Act of March 2003.

Hope that clears things up.

As for shooting whilst on private land, you need to ask the land owners permission before hand even if you're shooting something that is in public domain. This includes things such as some shopping centres such as The Bullring in Birmingham and of course Docklands in London as a case example.
