Raw

Hi,

For the first time today i thought i would experiment and take a few raw photos, only problem is i cant get them of the camera onto my computer because i dont have the right software. Is there any free software i can download to be able to load the photos from the camera onto my computer.

Cheers

Hello, rider

What camera do you use?

If it's a Nikon then you can download View NX for free and do basic RAW conversions in it. Also, Sandisk memory cards were doing free codes for Capture one, which is a good RAW converter - you might be able to find some with the offer over the 'net.

I don't know if Canon have any free RAW converters.

yeah im using a Nikon D40X

Canon software is free, but it only works with Canon RAW files. I'm assuming you are on a PC platform. You can try the demo of Adobe Lightroom. Most other RAW converters will offer a fully functional free trial period. Breeze Browser comes to mind as well.

Go to here for windows:

http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.co...enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23621

or here for mac:

And download View NX. It'll read the settings you applied in camera, and you can adjust things with the picture control utility and save as JPEG or TIFF.
