I wasn't able to take any pics this weekend so I might just post up an oldie.
There's probably no point in voting for it as it doesn't involve anyone doing a jump

Same applies to this, probobly won't win as the bike is not airbourne.
Sadly I have bugger all I can enter as most of my riding photos are taken by my lil bro, even though the camera is set up by me and I put him in the right place to take it - but he still presses the shutter lol

Thought i would give it a go as i have a picture with a bike off the ground ( @ hamish)
uncropped and no PS magic.. just raw as biking should be..
P.S. would be good to hear what and how the photo was taken..
i.e. this was on a Nikon D50 + 50mm F1.8 lens @ 1.8, 60 or 80 th of a sec in kinver DH track.. no flash.
it would help some people get an idea how the photo was taken and the effect..
the idea being a POTW is a aspirational (SP?) thing for some people and a way of learning how effects are created.

I take it that you mean 'straight out the camera JPEG'. RAW is a completely different matter altogether.
Nice photo, Foz (seems familiar).
Thanks for the compliments BTW
|
fozzybear

yer .. raw as in un-edited... not RAW as in the format (which is capitals).

Damn cool pic, good use of a border! Great bike to.

Nice photoshop work.. unfortunatly doesn't hide that it's a bit out of focus.
I would have been nice to see some lead of the rider to see where he is going. Think i've seen you post one which was a little less tightly cropped which helped hide the out of focus rider and give an idea of direction of the subject.
|
duncan_g

LOL, there is a little grain too, and i agree...abit.

I'd be a bit hacked off if the main things that were commented on are the bike and the frame. It's a good attempt to salvage an average photo, I'm afraid. Just my opinion, though.
|

|
lol, ok...
I think its quite good. And i have that bike thats why i said "good bike to"

He used a fisheye lens (although it probably was a 10.5mm if he shoots with Nikon gear). The fisheye gives the bending effect. You can get 10mm lenses which don't give that bending effect but an extreme wide angle effect.
This was shot at 10mm with a non-fisheye lens - if you look at the people on the beach then you'll see they're at a funny angle but there's no bending going on.
|
dandantheadminman
|
lol, thats quite wierd, lol
|
fozzybear
|
haha nice 1 hamish...
i've read about the effects of 10mm lenses but not seen them..
|
Hamish
|
They're essentially just the same as SLR 16mm super wide angle lenses.
|
mikedeere
|
Rectilinear(sp?) super-wide angle lenses are odd like that, cool though and useful.
I did indeed use a Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8 for that photo, it left me very poor after buying it but it is an amazing piece of kit to use.
