whenever you like dude, you can do 5 now if you want, and then later change one for a new one
but if i were you, do 5 shots in different styles so it makes the chances of people liking better.
e.g. i wouldnt do 5 dh.

Here's my first photo of choice:
I know that some people won't like the 'distortion' on the rider, but in fact there is very little spherical distortion from the fisheye on the rider due to his small size in the frame, and it's only the exaggerated perspective in comparison to the rest of the scene that gives it that dramatic effect.

The standard is upping so much. I'm hopefully buying an SLR soon so i will have a crack a some shots. I like the distortion appearance of the rider on you pic mike, what mm lense was that shot on? Jedi loving the silhouettes and the tweaked table, and Hamish as usual your Gandalf, wise and never produce a bad shot. Keep up the good work

Seriously... your accepting 5 photos... why not just accept everyone's photos and choose the best OR do (what i think was the better idea) and chose one photo...
IF you have a choice of MORE than 1 photo... why not start a thread in the photo review topic THEN move the best forward to POTM????
seams to totally defeat POTM...

Adam ... from my viewpoint i like the photo but it's wrong for me... you should have used a larger aperture (therefore a faster speed) and used some greater DOF.. the motion blur is distracting......

what happens is photos are spammed here, then the "top X" number are chosen by adam.
what should (and used to happen) was one entry was posted my each person (not 5 which has now become the "acceptable" amount)..
i saw your post in STW and personally the 3rd is FAR better than the others and only your third needed submitting.. (and btw is a great shot)
IF your stuck for more than one choice.. post them to the critic section..the POTM was a showcase for what someone thought was their best shot (originally of the week now of the month) now POTM appears to be a post your top five (then discuss, critic and shout out what you think is the best) just ruining what was a good idea of posting your best work to spamming photos, critics and shoutouts...

i submitteded the 2nd !
i get loads of what i like in photos to be honest.thye dont sem to be of the ilk on here but they are pics of what i love doing. 2 ridiers in the air with no idea what they took off from dont do it for me to be honest.
i like the submit 5 but adam chooses 1.

so why not submit 5 top a critic topic and call a vote on it? then post the winner here?
also gives someone 5 chances and others 1.... some people will only enter 1 photo some others will spam 5 good shots.
Edit: didn't see you entered 3 photos so far, i meant the 3rd photo was the best IMO...

the reason i said 5, is because some people prefer different shots, so what you may like, i may not, or roo may like, and hamish may not, or whatever,
anyways, i think 5 was a bit too much
o well, something for next time...

not having one person submit jump / trials / northshore / artistic / xc shots.. then one person submits a single good shot of their style of photography..... kinda makes it unfair..
thanks for listening.. i'm not ranting.. i'm just saying. i have 2 and i'm torn which to put in.. so i'll ask for input then submit one.

LOL. Don't be scared. You don't have to like all (or any) of my pics. I don't care.
What don't you like about it? I personally think it's okay but it's not my best. But January has been a quiet month for biking photos.

I'm with you on this one, Fozzy. I think everone should be allowed to submit only one photo and they all go through to the vote. Use the photo critique section to gauge people's opinions if you have more than one for the month.
I personally didn't think that rad2themax or myself should have had 2 photos entered in last month's. I take it as a compliment that Adam thought that 2 should have gone in but it's not fair if it takes a place away from someone else's only entry, even if it is shit.

That seems really silly to me. Most photo competitions are about the photographer submitting what they feel works. The fact that there's lots of variety in the entries is part of the fun. Why let Adam choose? I think that the only person that should pick the entry is the photographer.

I have to say i agree here...
the tog should choose his best work and then us the users should choose the overall with a vote for our fav. pic

the triscombe stone trail is from 2003 just before the fc logged it. tickets... there arnt any, its free, turn up around 8ish, bar is open and there will be the usual raffle type thing too! party at mfn in aura if your over 18 after too.

That shot above's real nice . I'd prefer it alot more if the cam was moved round to the right though so the rider was between that gap in the trees with blue skies behind him. Is the photographer a friend or what?

No. It's an HDR image made with lightroom and photomatix. And it is way oversaturated. And the position on the tree on the right is really annoying, as well as the date stamp and the watermark.
Other than that it's good
