voting will last until this time next week (give or take a day)
People who have submitted entries are allowed to vote, but cannot vote for their own picture. I trust everyone on this site is mature enough not to just ignore that and vote for their own pic.
the pic with the most votes wins (obviously )
Not many entries this month, but that does mean that each picture should get more attention.....
1) Hamish

What is the fascination with silhouettes, guys? I mean, no offence to RT, it's an okay sunset pic - sunset colours are a bit overexposed and flat - but I thought this was XC/singletrack. The only thing that hints at XC is the fact it's either an Epic or brain fade stumpy. There's absolutely no feeling of any trail or singletrack. It could be easily taken on a bit of grass at then end of a car park/layby having just driven up there to take a picture of someone just standing by their bike.

It speaks to me.... It is more than just a silhouette. It is more than just a sunset.
It kinda captures the freeride spirit we all speak of. A lone rider out on the hills.
The end of a day, the suns going down, he's looking down.... tired maybe.
It's knowing that feeling and having been there... i guess it plucks at a certain chord.
I voted for number 3 - really nice pic... also my current wallpaper. cheers.

Freeride spirit? Wasn't that 3 months ago or so?

freeride is an all encapsulating phrase!
if its xc should it be full lycra and flat bars with a rqace plate? no.

unless he means rideing free, going anywhere doing anything, uphill downhill..well not so much but just having freedom and being able to ride where you want when you want and then at the end of the day watch the sun go down on the top of the hill as you recover from the climb up.
The sunset, the prize for climbing that hill.

I went for Mike, really nice lighting and just a great feeling of concentration. I'm with Hamish on the sillhoutte tbh, but i know it will appeal to alot of people on here.
Hamish deserves to win this XC catagory, but im afraid the picture you chose just isn't doing it for me Hamish. I think some of your other pictures coulda smashed it, just not this one.

My photogrpah was taken on the highest point of a XC loop in South Wales about 2 years ago in December and cold. To me it captured the whole ride, final climb nailed, sunset, moody mist across to the Severn, sun reflecting on the water and riders XC helmet. BTW the bike is a Specialized Stumpy FSR with Brain.
What made the picture more appealing it was taken with a Canon IXUS and just spur of the moment shot while I was catching up with the lead rider (in pic).
Like one comment earlier, I do wish a road was near by.
However, the single track back to car park made the ride even better, thats Cross Country IMO
Even though it's my piccy I think it's quite Enigmatic, read what you will into it

Hamish doesn't deserve anything. Why should he? Especially not if you don't bond with his pic. I think it's an okay one, but nothing special. I think I've used up most of my better singletrack ones in previous POTMs. I really need to get some time off work and get out riding & shooting singletrack again. But it's much more fun to go on DH uplift days instead when I do get a weekend off.
I personally went with jedi's. I thought it was a creative way of showing off singletrack. I like the focus on the tyre treads and the softness of the awaiting trail in the background. And, whilst the tyres may not seem to fit with XC, I know plenty of people who ride XC using 2.5 Highrollers and Minions. But chuck in a set of Fire XC pros and you have a perfect XC singletrack pic. Top marks. I hope it gets more votes as it deserves it.

I agree with you there hamish, but flamin heck! I've never heard you so complimentary before!

thanks hamish!
by the way my tyres are speccy enduro tyres. xc baby!

hangs head in shame...
I run Spesh Enduro 2.3s for XC too! And I didn't recognise the tread! I guess that means I must spend more time looking at the trail ahead rather than the front wheel.

Bruv that's why i didnt vote for you. By deserving this one i mean for all your other XC photos about this forum, many of which i believe would have won it for me if you had put them in. Your the most active and personally, i think one of the best, XC shooters on this forum.

Personally, I agree with you rad.
