I know I'd never ride without a helmet but if someone doesn't want to that's their decision, not the photographers.

I don't think we should ban them outright. I only voted "yes" because there was no - no ban but discouraged/not allowed to enter POTM option. After all, it's not illegal to ride without one. It's just stupid. So I don't think we should ban them altogether.
However, I do think we should discourage them from POTM, as it may result in that being on the front page of the website and maybe doesn't give a good impression. After all, how many magazine front covers have riders with no helmet on? Exctly. I think there is a certain amount of responsibility to promote helmets, but it's JAW's site and up to him, even though we're having a vote.

Yeah that's pretty true. I didn't vote as there's no in between option as Hamish suggested but i do support a no lid no pic policy. However, it's easy to say that if the people you ride with always wear lids: i was recently on a trials shoot with two riders; one was wearing a lid and the other not. I couldn't say "sorry mate i'm not taking pics of you because you're not wearing a lid", as that would be missing a huge oppurtunity to get some decent photos.
However i would be very uncomfortable with a lidless rider on the homepage. George's pic is awesome but i probably would not like it on the homepage as people viewing the site might get a bad idea.
So my final answer is yes if you have to but no on the index page.

i voted no.
i still think its wrong that riders get mnore exposure in mags lidless than with lids.
my mates a pro vert skater and gets more money for no lid pics!

me neither.
a rep came into the bikeshop(marshalls) with a psoter a couple of years ago of a guy flipping with no lid on a bmx.
the manager said he wont advertise products inthe shop showing lidless riders as kids try to copy their idols.
that rider in the pic was stephen murray.
im not saying what has happened to stephen was anything to do with helmet wearing but just wanted to give an example.

Won't let me vote for some reason but i'd definately say they should be allowed.
I think it takes someone stupid to blindly copy their idols and not where a lid if there not comfortable doing that. I on the other hand rarely where a lid anymore purely because of my own choice. It got to be a hastle carrying it round and was sweaty etc so i just started leaving it at home. That's entirely my choice, not influenced by anyone else, and i feel comfortable with it. I don't think riders like that (and their friends the photographers) should be penalised.
I've decided that theres plenty of ways i could die or hit my head and while riding is certainly one of them it's not like i fall on my head every day. The chances of me breaking my kneck or back are probably almost as high as getting a very damaging crack to my head but the topic opf protection for them never comes up? Thats because it would be cumbersome, uncomfortable and effort; much the same as how i find lids.
I probably only have about 5 shots from the last 6 months where the rider is wearing a lid. BMX magazines rarely have lids in them and there isn't as much of a worry. It's everyones individual choice.

The only time it shouldn't be allowed is in a publication, and that only depends on the policy of the publication. They might not want to show photos of people riding without helmets as readers may automatically assume that the publication then condones the non-wearing of helmets.
