New cameraSo my grandma gave me my grandpas old camera this weekend. She hasn't used it since he died, and he didn't use it the last few years of his life, because all of the film is "best before November '85"
I have just been playing around with it briefly in my room but have not had much time to really try it out. I'm not really familiar with a lot of film stuff (The cameras older than me  ).
I'm reading the manual cover to cover and am about half though. Only reading it about 15 minutes at a time though.

Nothing wrong with film. If it wasn't for the ease of use with digital I'd still use Velvia slide film for landscapes. I'm sure that it can take good enough pics.
Read the manual, have a play and try again...
Also, read up on A, S and M modes and the different types of metering - you're as well as just diving in at the deeper end as you'll learn quickly enough.
I think Fozzybear used to have an old Minolta like that. He may be ale to give you some advice. Enjoy.

Oh man... That tele lens has barrel focus/zoom! The best feature in a lens EVER that is sadly discontinued, it allows you to zoom and re-focus at the same time using the one barrel rather than two seperate zoom and focus rings. Basically push/pull to zoom and twist to focus, genius! I've used it before on an old Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 and damn is it a good feature.
