It was my first race. I did pretty well considering the bike was easily over 40lbs there, and it was SS. I came 3rd in the provincial championships for my division. I showed up 6 minutes before the course was closed for practice though, and only got in one practice run. I could have come 2nd provide I had a bit more practice, but oh well.
I solved the SS and weigh issue though. I traded my heavy ass primo parts for some sleek and sexy x.0 drive train.
Nice bikes by the way. Thats a damn short top tube on the scott.

anyways, yeh it a medium, and i got it for free off scott after ripping the headtube off a YZ2, hehe, they said they'd never seen it done before soo they gave me a YZ1

Cheers. She's one fast trail bike. I love her. The only original parts left are the frame, shock, forks and stem.

How do you know I got rid of the bighit? Or are you guessing?
Just wanted something a bit racier and lower. (Obviously BigHits are tall with a high BB). It's low and long, a bugger on tight turns but its soooo sweet on everything else

Is that for the '06 bighit as well? I find I can barely put a pedal in on bumpy ground without catching the pedals!
|
John
|
Yep 06 as pictured above.
what travel forks are you using? 200mm? And what length crank arms?
Do you drop the outside pedal when cornering?
You should be able to tank over everything without catching the pedals on a bighit. Took me a while to stop catching the pedals on the stab after riding a bighit.

200mm 888's with hard springs, can't remember the crank size, either 170 or 175 though nothing fancy. What's probably doing it is the soft rear spring, it's a 450 on there and I'm 14.5 stone, so a fair amount of sag, a 500 would probably be right, but that costs money

Nikki and I shall have have our steeds sorted by the end of the month! Expect pics then.
Nikki's receiving one from the first batch of production Diamondback Bandito '08s and I should finally have my prototype Identiti Krisis with nice short front end built up.
Happytimes!

I was just guessing: I didn't think you'd keep the bighit and the kona!
Yeah i find mine quite long. The good thing though, is that height wise it feels like a hardtail.

mine,has moto v2's now though

Jedi that is insane!! How much does that weigh?? Upwards of 55lbs I'm guessing!!
How big have you gone on that beast?
edit: is that a 24" rear wheel with a big old tyre on it?
|
jedi
|
it's 49lb and has 3" tyre on 24" rear
|
John
|
Doesn't way too much more than my stab then. can't figure out how it only weighs that much though? Or are demo9 frames not as heavy as they appear?
Whats the secret!!?
|
jedi
|
they are 14lb iirc
|
jedi

too much media bullshit about freeride bikes having to be light.
all they need is a double front ring
|
John
|
Yeah I guess that's true, especially for shore riding.
