Wahey, well done mate! I can understand not getting paid, but not even getting credited sucks!

Congratulations.
But I can't believe you submitted photos without even insisting on credit, never mind payment. I NEVER consider submitting anything to anyone without the terms being perfectly clear before I'd send full size files or give permission for image use.
A while ago I had Titec asking to use a couple of my photos for "advertising" with "unlimited use permitted". I thought they were obviously trying to fleece me thinking "oh wow... a company wants to use my photos... wow.. I'll give them it for nothing". I spoke to Seb Rogers and found out what the going rates for such a company were and told them to quote me proper figures for planned use, etc, and that without precise details I'd have to quote them [a very large price] for unlimited use rather than have them take the piss. They didn't get back and I don't regret that for a second. Magazines should be no different. They make plenty of cash and should pay ALL the photographers instead of taking advantge of keen amateurs, unless it's the "reader's pics" section where the terms of use are clear.
If I were you I would seriously complain to show them how unhappy you are at not even getting credited and put the ball in their court regarding how they will apologise.

I didnt do that atall
The photos where sent with strict instruction to include a photo credit..which they didnt, there is not really a way of insuring that other than just trusting they will do it.

Well you can contact them and let them know that you're unhapppy at not being credited. You'll obviously have Email/letter proof of them agreeing to your terms.
They should at least publish an apology.

If you sent them on the grounds that they give you credit, and they didn't, invoice them.

Agreed. Chase it up.
On the payment front, sometimes its good to get the pics published without being payed instead of no publishing at all if you are trying to get in the door/building up a CV.
Can understand unlimited use is taking the biscuit though Hamish

They're c*nts like that. They've always (under) paid me late, that's if they pay me at all.
Hence I've kinda avoided editorial and stuck with commercial.
Congrats though, every tearsheet is worth having.
Also... 4 photos? That's £240 I'd say. Un-negotiable seeing that they used them without your expressed permission.

I couldn't disagree more.
If Seb Rodgers and co get paid then why shouldn't you? If your pics are good enough to be in the magazine alongside their photos then you deserve to be paid as well as everyone else. If everyone insisted on payment then everyone would get paid. The mags take advantage on people who are trying to get a start and that's unfair IMHO. They have enough money to do so and are simply taking the piss.

Let us know how it turns out. I think Mike & Hamish have a point though - four pictures definitely requires some sort of payment.

im calling them on monday now, its when there back from holiday
I also have a copy of the e-mail that the photos where sent with,
They never replyed to the e-mail, but here is a quote from it
"Use whatever you want, but they were all taken by my mate,
and it would be really cool if you could put his name in somewhere?
his name is Tom Grundy."
Which obviousely will never happen
I tried calling them last week, the number puts me through to the main switchboard..but there on holiday..
Does anyone know who the best person to ask for is..there are about 4 editors, im not sure if there is on specificly for photos..
Thanks
Tom

Usually there's a list of who's who and emails somewhere near the index page.
I once had to chase them up about a prize, so I emailed the general address with my enquiry - mbuk@futurenet.co.uk - and then got passed on to the correct person from there.

Well this has all been sorted out!
Pretty much
I sent an e-mail to the art editor.. pretty friendly just explaining everything and that my name wasnt included.
Got an e-mail back about 10mins later saying i should be expecting some money through my door..
Good to know he's willing to pick up the peices for a freelance writers mistake.
I also got my second kinda publication with DMR. And there new 09 cataloge which is sent out to all the comapnys that stock DMR.. Got paid a bit for that aswell..which is good
