first MTB cover

October MBR, shot up in the lake district, somewhere near grizdale forest. Nothing too special and it has been tweaked a bit by the designers but overall I'm pleased.

nice, could u send in ur original, would be interesting to see what changes they made.
Roo

done,

they've added a bit more space to the left hand side and obviously taken the sun out but I think that's pretty much it. It looks a little flat in the cover there but it looks ok in real life.

wahey, congrats. That's good stuff! Hope they paid you well for that - considering they edited it for you!  Wink

Do post any more covers and stuff!

Congrats Roo.

I love the way they do stupid stuff like take out the sun and make the lighting look odd given the natural rim lighting and the shadows. I suppose they had to make it darker so the white logo would stand out.

But the original is better. The overly darkened and saturated sky on the cover just looks wrong.

Nice job Roo, congrats!

I think they're always gonna mess around with a photo for a magazine because the shots have usually got to fit around type and logos and stuff, especially when it's a cover - if they'd left the sun in there it would've blended in with the title too much, eh? Still, it must be annoying when you've put the time and effort in for them to go and dick around with it.

Well done buddy.

Is the rider Andrew Shandro? Does look like him a lot
Roo

Cheers, ha, no it's not andew shandro but but he is called Andy (Waterman) and funnily enough another guy who was there that day, is a shandro lookalike!

Nice one Roo!

its no where near you best shot.. but a typical MBR shot so what they want i spose..

What do you thinks better, getting a cover like that.. or getting in the photo issue of Dirt along with some of the best photos in the world.. Twice if i remember rightly?!?

I do believe that is a rhetorical question? I loved the photo issue, hope they do another one, but one or two of the shots were questionable...
Roo

I don't really know (or care), what would be best is to combine the two; a dirt cover. I have a perfect shot for one, I just think dirt now try to only put something on the cover that relates to the content  Sad

Still worth a pop though. There was a recent one with no relevance to content (was one with 'The Don' carving that rock). Unless its a very recent policy change...
