D40 or D50 Whcich is best?

I have around 400 pounds to spend on a digital slr camera. As i am a noob to this stuff i need some help

D50.

More AF points, more external controls, can be used with older lenses including the excellent 50mm f1.8... are the reasons that immediately spring to mind. From what I've seen of the spec it's a much better camera all round.

get a d50. i did and i love it. www.digitaldepot.co.uk look on here

i use a D50 and the D40 has a lot less to offer than the D50..

IMO the D40 is poor for the fact it's missing the following

less AF points (being my biggest bug bear..)

here is a review + comparison
http://www.dpreview.com/articles/nikond40/

no bracketing on exposure or white balance.
it has a higher ISO (but i'm yet to go over 800 on my d50)
faster RAW cont shooting (again i have yet to use cont shooting)
better and larger lcd (again i zoom in on the images to check areas a larger overall image) but the improved colours would be an advantage.
the battery on the D50 is better
slightly lighter .2 lbs
programmable function key
In camera editing (WTF!!!!!!! yer i REALLLYYY want that)
and world time..

anyway read the review but i still say the D50....
