Best Value wide angle to telephoto lenseI'm getting a D50 body for xmas and was promised a wide angle to telephoto lenses too,what would be the best value one out there? bearing in mind it can't be more than 300, absolute tops. |

Stay with Nikon. Get a 18-35mm wide angle. Its plug and play with your body. And also a Nikon teleophto lens of your choice. Don't be fooled by price on the telephoto..differences are hard to find unless you spend big bucks. |

i would prefer it all in one lense though to avoid carrying aroudn spare lenses and stuff.
is there a good nikon that does like 18-200mm? |

Nah, with a big varrience in mm's as ex 18-200mm, you would have a huge all in one lens.
Get a nice case and stick the lenses in there

If you are seeking massive focal range such as 18-200 which may or may not exist, you will not find it for under $1000. As with all zoom lenses, you will have to deal with barrel distortion on the wide end of the range and pincushion on the telephoto end. I'd suggest getting a wide angle prime lens, i.e. 24mm, 28mm, or 35mm. Check at a 50mm as suggested too. It is considered a normal lens, because 50mm is close to what you perceive with the human eye. Prime lenses will give you the sharpest image quality compared to consumer zooms too. Plus they are light weight and have fast apertures. If you have to have a telephoto as well, check out any of the 75-300mm offerings. Do not discount the possibility of buying used lenses either. You could find what you want and possibly have some cash to spare. |

yeh i decided to go for 2 lense, a wide angle one, then a long telephoto zoom.
