Can anybody offer any advice for taking photos of riders on berms please? I Took quite a few photos over the weekend, these 2 were the best IMO but they're still pretty poor!
They're all of my younger brother who came along with me to my trail near Petersfield.

It's about 20mins away from the visitor centre on a DH bike, not actually in QE though.
If you want directions/map let me know.
One trail is almost done, with 2 different bits of single track at the top, one of which will have doubles on it.
I'm going to extend up and down the hill to make it a longer run at the weekend.

Thats a video from the weekend if you have a couple of mins spare, bit of a poor one though _________________ "I have nothing to declare, except my genius." |

| If i'm totally honest, it's rarely worth taking photo's of people on berms unless they are being ridden fast or there's a really good composition - just my opinion, I took some the other day I'll dig out and post them, see if you like any part of them... |

Have a look at the pic below, if you like it, try and work out why, and then copy it...they aren't the best, just quick pics while out riding on 1600iso film.

Berms are great for panning shots - stand behind the apex of the berm, use a slower shutter speed and keep tracking the rider as you shoot so you get lots of motion blur in the background and a nice sharp rider. They don't need to be going particularly fast. If you use fast shutter speeds to freeze things then it looks a bit unnatural and they look like they're going to tip over. It's also best to get the rider coming into the apex rather than waiting until they're leaving. Nobody really wants a view of someone's arse.

Sure
Give me shout any time. I'm there this weekend and next weekend unless the weather is totally taking the pi*ss!
Mainly building atm. Currently building a big step down at the bottom onto a chalky landing with a tree on it
If you wanna come along and build I've got a couple of spades stashed there or you can just come along and do some riding although there's not a lot of stuff there... yet.
Worrying thing is that there was a couple of walkers on it at the weekend, just hope it's how I left it when I go back!!!! _________________ "I have nothing to declare, except my genius." |

I'm thinking the same as Roo. Also, for it to look more decent the rider has to be pinning it/leaning right into the berm. The harder thy're leaning the better.
Here's a shot I got of me bro a few years back;
And here's an above view (not as good) of a berm:

I like panning on berms. Mine are by no means good and i'm working on it but the two below will give you an idea of what i mean.
