I think a fair few people have these random moments of inspiration for a shot. Sometimes it's an idea they've thought about and sometimes it just pops into your head. Often they turn out good or just plain creative.

Show off your creative juices and post your 'random inspiration' shot here.

This was a random moment. I was waiting to cross a road whilst visiting Auckland and I noticed a nice reflection off a skyscraper. Fortunately I had my D50 and 18-200 VR in my hands and fired off a quick shot before the green man.

Wow that's a really graphic shot. Once again, i'm liking the vibrant colours.

I'll post one of mine later....

Try this one, it probably means nothing to you but certainly means something to me, early hours of the morning, 50 miles from home, at the turning around point of a 100 mile night ride. Sore arse, shorts and shirt, very cold on the brighton downs, just messing around with the D70. Not a good shot, but full of memories. I was trying to capture what it felt like, the orange blurriness becuase of the thousands of street lights I must have passed while half a sleep pedalling away for hours and hours.

Roo, that shot does give me the knackered blurry-eyed feeling when i look at it which is what you were aiming for. Would have probably been more apt in the Biking moments of inspiration but doesn't matter.

Bomber - i do like that shot; it's so clean it almost looks computer animated!

Love that JAW. I actually came on to post my moment of inspiration, which was a similar idea to yours, but feel slightly bettered. Here it is anyway:

I can't say anything positive about the photos taken by someone who has a racist porcelain doll collection. And someone who takes pub pictures with no beer in them. Honestly! Wink

Only kidding. The first looks a little grey - a bit more exposure/contrast might help, but I like the use of shallow DOF. And I like the second, but it'd definitely look better with a nice pint of ale.

Shocked

Beer is never far enough away from my lips to get in shot.

I had taken the levels down with Capture in the first. Maybe it was a mistake.

Travis - I had a quick play with yer current pic in capture NX and it's easy to tweak to make it a bit brighter and make the faces more contrasty:

Open a levels edit step and drag the whites slider across to approx 174. Drag the middle tones slider across from 1 to 1.1. Change the number in the box below the blacks slider from 0 to 2 or 3.

That should give you a good start point from which you could make further tweaks.
