I have 300 quid for a camera

Right i 300 pounds to spend on a new camera for myself, as i am the only one who rides in my area a video cam might be handy so i can just set it up on a tri pod and set it up but i would also want a good pic cam so i can try adn get pics of myself on my own but so i can take pics of other people and other people cna take pics of me. My question is are there any dslrs that can do both video and pics?

Very few because the whole idea of an SLR is that you are looking though the lens, so you can't be looking through the lens at the same sime a sensor is looking though.

There is at least one around, but I can't remember which - I seriously doubt it's below £400 though.

bugger, the plan was if i got a dslr that could only take pics i was going to get a penny put it on the sequence mode say like 4 every second then put some tape on over the button and when you start to ride press the other side down. Sounds very ghetto and unrealistic but if its the only was i am going to do it i will have to put up with it

A sequence that slow is not realistically possible on the Nikon dslr's and I guess will most/all? of the others. Often the sequence mode is at a set frames per second, on my D70 it's stuck on 3.5 FPS, on my D200 you can choose between about 2, 3 and 5 FPS. So what you say is kind of possible but you would end up with like 50pics before you found one of you.

There's always the old Nikon F4 with a Nikon MF-23 Data Back. This gave you the option of using a function called Freeze Focus whereby you could setup the camera so that it would automatically focus and fire the shutter by itself.

Amazing that it can be used for auto unmanned/remote photography with the shutter automatically released the moment the subject is in focus - a dream function for sports and wildlife photographers, and one that has yet to be matched by DSLRs.

You can easily pick up an F4 these days for £300, but I'm not sure how much the MF-23 would set you back. Plus you always have to get a lens, but it's pretty cheap for a 50mm f/1.8 that would work fine with it.
