Ok guys, listen up. I'm getting tired of runnning a half active forum which maybe gets a new post every other day. We have a few faithful members (who will probably be the only people to read this post!) but not enough to make it worth spending time by setting up potm every month. I dunno whether it's my bad managing or what but the site aint growing, despite the efforts i've made.
So i've come to a decision. There's two options:
1) Every member who cares about the site does whatever they possibly can to promote it. Tell anyone and everyone who might be remotely interested about it. I would be willing to get stickers printed, even t-shirts or whatever, but obviously you'd have to pay a bit as it would suck if i spent loads on printing and postage and never got anywhere.
2) freewheel dies.
I'm reluctant to go for option 2 for several reasons. One is that I believe it has great potential, being (I think) the only dedicated mtb photography forum. There are tons of biking photographers out there. Also it is a friendly environment - all of you - the members - are genuine people. I have learnt a lot through this site. However, if it has to die it will.
There is also an option 1a) if you like: That we also open the doors to bmx, motocross, cars etc. However, i'd prefer not to as i think the site would lose its uniqueness and 'dedication'.
Anyway, the choice is yours. What do you say?

I say keep it and keep it MTB this forum is helpfull, but does need more dedicated members
Although i think aswell as people getting the name out there, the site itself needs a little work..
for example the fact that the banner at the top has the wrong address on it..
im going to contact a few of my "photography" freinds and see if there intrested..
i think we need to make the point that if you post a photo here, it will get really good creative feedback and criticisms thats what people want..but never get. although i think that this site gives it when it can be bothered. _________________ www.TOMGRUNDY.BLOGSPOT.COM |

Exactly, the crit and feedback is great. As for the banner apologies, it's just one of those things i never seem to get round to.
Any other suggestions?
If you want to help it would be good also use this in your sig on other forums:

I wonder if the forum has suffered a bit due to the summer being shit and people being away in the Alps. I say keep it and keep it MTB and fix the spelling and address in the banner then get plugging it.
Hey... we could even have "design a new site banner" as a POTM challenge. After the summer one (which I'll hopefully get an entry for soon - haven't been out on the bike at all due to injury/exams but should be out at the weekend. _________________ Hamish |

Sorry. I'm a bitch for spelling.
From my point of view, I've had family holidays, training courses and exams, and training for a 60 mile endurance challenge on Exmoor next weekend (if anyone fancies dropping some sponsorship http://www.justgiving.com/travismorgans )means that my photography has had to take a back seat for a while. I'm a year behind on my photography course as well.
I basically agree with Hamish - keep it mtb, and we'll have a go at trying to publicise the site and improve things.
Its a good site and it would be a shame to see it go down the pan. |

Oi! I was only there for 6 days! (but had to be away for non riding reasons after that)
Anyway, thanks for the constructive help guys. I think the main thing is, we all need to chip in. The reason i hadn't fixed the banner etc is i though it wasn't worth the time if the site wasn't working.
Personally, i like the site banner (apart from the mistake), but if people feel it needs changing then so be it.
BTW Would anyone be interested in stickers etc?
Here's proof that i do put effort in & that i spent time in the alps wisely :

| I might as well post the forum on UKMB. I know Hamish already has on UK-MTB. |

You can have a space for a large banner on the new jab-ride.co.uk when its up FOC. The thing is with this type of prob is the most effective method of gaining members is word of mouth etc as the majority see an ad banner and can't be bothered.
Stickers does sound good though! _________________

Good to see you back! Where you been all this time?
If you reckon it would make the forum better i'll do what I can to shrink it... _________________
