I've posted this on SDH too, so if you go on both, don't bother replying twice!

Luke Cullis whip

Tom Gethin with audience!

Tom Pinto and Luke Cullis - I have one with both in the picture fully but I like this one more!

Tom Pinto whip.

I like #2 - Nice work. The audience is a great touch.
#3 I sort of like as well. It's a nice capture although I'm not sure about the B&W. d like to see how it compared in colour.

The others don't work for me. I like the fact that you were doing something different but it's not my bag (and I quite like tight crops with no landing!).

Good work fella.

Trust you to pick the two that didn't use flash Rolling Eyes Laughing

I did B+W on that one (a rare thing for me unless it's film) just because I shot it at 1600iso and I prefer my noisy pictures in B+W.

Not the same rider, but same place and time:

Yep. B&W is aways good when there's noise. Especially when they're high contrast pics with bright highlights like that one. Sensible choice.

I forgot to mention, these were on my new 80-200 f2.8 AF-D (bar the last), if you find focussing hard, don't get this lens (Tiny depth of field fully extended and wide open) Shocked

2nd pic is 200mm f2.8 and not quite in focus Embarassed Rolling Eyes

Hopefully I will improve though.

Nice new toy, Roo. Those fast long Nikons have some lovely bokeh.

You don't get much DOF at that sort of focal length and distance, particularly with someone coming towards you and no AF-S. It's not disastrous though. I'd say it's acceptable. I thought that his face was a little soft due to motion blur when I first looked.

I have to say, that if you were shooting at 200mm then you'd have been miles away. If you'd used even 'only' 80mm and walked a good bit closer then you'd have had way more DOF to play with at f2.8 and you'd still have a nicely blurred backgound.

LOL at 'bar the last' Wink

I've always liked a narrow DoF, but getting it as well as a sharp rider is always a challenge. I have to say, I like the slight vignetting at 200mm f2.8 though, you can see it best in the first pic.

A 10.5-200mm f2.8 would be an impressive bit of kit! Laughing

That's pretty much my inspiration for getting a long fast zoom, it may not have been with one but I think it is...

Im not a fan of the tight crops on some of them, especially the first with cullis's head chopped off. Also im not a fan off the flash in view on the last as it destracts my attention from the rider, but that may just be me. Apart from that mint pics as usual
